Professional Experience

Network Security Administrator

Brunswick Community College 2022-present

As an administrator for a college campus domain serving over 600 employees and more than 5,000 students, I was responsible for managing a complex and dynamic IT environment. This role required ensuring the seamless operation of all network services, including email, file sharing, and cloud-based collaboration tools, while maintaining strict security protocols to protect sensitive data. I was responsible for managing on-prem and cloud infrastructure. This includes Fortigate Firewalls, Cisco Meraki switches and Access Points, AWS loadbalancers and security groups. I oversaw the deployment and maintenance of user accounts, permissions, and access controls across various systems, ensuring that both staff and students had the resources they needed to perform their tasks efficiently. Additionally, I provided technical support to faculty, staff, and students, troubleshooting issues ranging from connectivity problems to software malfunctions. Balancing the diverse needs of a large academic community, I implemented scalable solutions to accommodate growing demands, optimized IT processes for efficiency, and ensured compliance with educational and data privacy regulations. This experience honed my ability to manage a large-scale IT infrastructure while delivering exceptional service and support to a diverse user base.

Professional Experience

IT Administrator

Broadwave 2017-2022

In my role as a IT Adminstrator, I performed all aspects of wireless installation for both residential and business customers, including terminating CAT6 cables, setting up small networks, and mounting hardware. I was responsible for the maintenance, upgrades, configuration, and support of network equipment such as Mikrotik, UniFi, Aruba/HP, Cisco, Cambium, and Ruckus. My duties also included monitoring circuits using PRTG to ensure optimal network performance. I configured wireless internet equipment, as well as customer premise routers and firewalls, and designed and deployed wireless infrastructures for large hospitality companies. Additionally, I provided Tier 2 network ticketing support, overseeing daily operations, delegating tasks, and implementing strategies to optimize workflows. I also installed, terminated, and repaired fiber via fusion splicing, ensuring robust and reliable network connections.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Computer Science

Concordia University | St Paul

Graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science requires a strong commitment to mastering a broad range of technical and theoretical concepts. Students must develop proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, and gain a deep understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles. The curriculum often includes courses in databases, operating systems, computer networks, and cybersecurity, as well as mathematics subjects like calculus, discrete mathematics, and linear algebra, which are foundational to computer science theory. Beyond coursework, students must also complete practical projects, which may involve developing software applications, conducting research, or solving real-world problems. Critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to rapidly evolving technologies are essential. To succeed, students must also manage time effectively, work well in teams, and often engage in internships or cooperative education experiences to apply their knowledge in professional settings. Ultimately, earning a degree in computer science requires dedication, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for technology.
